Do Kanady šlo kdysi celkem dost Škodovek.Navíc je tam spousta Čechoameričanů a taky v dobrým slova smyslu šílenci, kteří sbírají Jawy,Tatrovky,Škodovky...

tohle mi prislo vcera mejlem... zajimava story:

Vazeny pane/pani Redektore!

I was heading home from work yesterday (2.3.04) in the 1985 Skoda
120L when on Foothills parkway (Boulder, Colorado, USA) the throttle
cable suddenly snapped. I got to the side and shut it off, putting on
the emergency flashers. I crawled (attempted) over a fence (later
finding a hole to get through after I shredded my hands trying to
climb it) and got to an office building to phone my Mother. She told
me Dad was out, and she would tell him my situation when he returned.
Deciding I didn't want to abandon my precious old Skoda along the
highway, I set the idle adjustment to its highest position and got
back into traffic (ever so slowly) and all the way to a nearby
shopping center (I could walk home from there if necessary) deciding
that trying to pull the remaining hills (Boulder is in the foothills
of the Rockies) and tackle Broadway at rush hour was not appealing.
At least it was safely in a parking lot, not likely to receive a
citation or be towed.

The problem was that although I prayed that I would hit at least one
light green, it was NOT my fate... EVERY blasted light was red,
full-duration, and the engine screamed waiting for the light to
change. This also prompted my stopping at the shopping center as the
car was getting hot. By the time I phoned Mother again, Dad was there
and decided to tow me the rest of the way with his Van. I have one of
those "taiwanese" tow ropes I always carry in case of emergency, so i
whipped it out and promptly hooked it up. Dad eventually arrived, and
I hooked him up, and the second we got to the street, SNAP, the tow
cable broke. Now I was angry, so I started the car (which was quite
cool by now) and managed to "trundle" up all those STEEP hills,
crawling in first gear like a tractor, all the way home!

Bear in mind there isn't another Skoda, much less a parts source or
service center for THOUSANDS of miles! JSEM SAM!

THIS IS TRULY AN INTREPID SKODA!!

s pozdravem, a mejte se hezky,
Don Schumann
Boulder, Colorado, USA

PS-Prominte, ze nemluvim dost dobre cesky...
